Common Engine Damage
Malfunctioning EGR Valve
Your EGR valve is what controls the flow of exhaust gases that are recirculated into your combustion chamber. If this valve malfunctions, that flow of exhaust gas is no longer regulated and can completely sideline an engine. Since the gas is cooled before entering the combustion chamber, it lowers your combustion temperature. This is good when the cooling is moderate, but when the cooling happens at an uncontrollable rate, the temperature will drop far too low and cause serious engine problems. If you notice that your truck is hard starting or is constantly stalling, call us right away.
Blown Head Gasket
A blown head gasket generally occurs when your heavy-duty engine overheats for a prolonged period of time. This gasket, in particular, is one that allows your engine to expand and contract at different temperatures, but it can only handle so much heat. If you have a blown head gasket, you’ll know right away, for you’ll immediately see white smoke coming from your exhaust. Other symptoms include poor engine performance, poor fuel economy, and overheating.
